Ms. Cooper represents clients in a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division cases. Her expertise in drafting prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, combined with her superior negotiation and litigation skills, ensures clients receive strategic, results-driven representation. Ms. Cooper strives to explain complex legal matters clearly, empowering clients to navigate challenging family transitions with confidence.
Her unique entrepreneurial and corporate law experience sets her apart, particularly in high-asset divorces and cases involving business interests. As the founder and Chief Legal Counsel of WaistLite™ since 2021, Ms. Cooper developed and launched a groundbreaking dietary supplement addressing alcohol-related weight management, earning the company the title of “the most innovative brand of 2024.” She led all aspects of the business, from intellectual property protection and FDA compliance to trademark strategy and direct-to-consumer sales, while managing cross-functional teams to secure a first-mover advantage. This expertise in business operations and financial structures equips her to handle complex asset valuations and business ownership issues in family law matters.
From 2009 to 2020, Ms. Cooper was founder and corporate counsel for an e-commerce platform in the beauty industry, negotiating global distribution contracts and hundreds of professional agreements as Master Broker for a leading hair color brand in Australasia. Her corporate law experience also includes advising C-suite executives on contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, tech licensing, and corporate governance for multiple for-profit and nonprofit organizations since 2024. Ms. Cooper's early career (1992–2008) included representing clients in complex business litigation, employment law, criminal defense, and medical malpractice in both Atlanta and New Orleans. She also edited a 700-page client Sourcebook on labor and employment law and managed business development for the intellectual property practice of an AmLaw 100 law firm, sharpening her strategic and communication skills. As a published writer, she has contributed to Business to Business, Atlanta Business Chronicle, and Atlanta Magazine, and others.
A graduate of Tulane Law School (J.D., 1992), where she served as Managing Editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Review and externed for Judge Steven R. Plotkin, Ms. Cooper is admitted to practice in Georgia and Louisiana. She holds a B.A. with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was an editor for The Pennsylvania Review, a producer for the theatrical group, The Pennsylvania Players, and a member of the equestrian team. A former officer of the Federal Bar Association in Atlanta, she remains active in the Georgia Bar Association's Family Law Section.
